Short stories are enjoyable to write because you can express emotions that you might not want to address consciously, but through creativity, they flow. Unlike a longer piece, when I begin a short story, I often don't know how I will end up until I get there. Sometimes, I even make myself chuckle out of surprise.
I wrote this story in the 10th grade as an assignment after having read "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka.

This short story of nightmares and dreams has a surprisingly dark mood stemming from somewhere very deep inside of me. At the time I wrote it in 12th grade, we were studying Edgar Allan Poe. This shows how a particular style can be influential.

The Academy of the Holy Names was very demanding academically, but I can honestly say that it prepared me well for college and beyond. I might not have appreciated the workload at the time, but now I do. This story was written Junior year during a particularly busy time. The point is that regardless of a seemingly neverending mountain of work, you have to just keep going.

I wrote this story in 11th grade in association with a research paper I had completed on the John F. Kennedy assassination. The assignment was using the knowledge from your research paper, to produce a creative story. While doing my research, I was particularly impressed with the docum ented evidence from a number of sources that the arrival of the Beatles in 1964 helped to lift our country out of its duldrums. My Dad had lived through this experience and was a great source of information for me regarding the emotions it entailed.
