Over the years, I have been fortunate to have teachers who have recognized my creative ability by entering my poetry into annual poetry contests sponsored by Creative Communication and Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans.  Four times I was honored with publication through grade school and high school.  The topics strike a special chord with me and I am happy to share them with you.

"Fall"

Fall, the season of leaves
Falling off the trees,
With their unique color, rustling on the sidewalk
With their disturning sound.

Fall, the season of raking leaves
Into a big pile,
Which afterwards you jump in,
And you laugh with joy.

Fall, the season of wonder
Which everyone enjoys.
Fall, one of the greatest seasons
Of them all!

"My Brother, Patrick"

Kind,
smart,
funny,
and talented.
These are some of the qualities my brother has.
My brother, Patrick,is very special to me.
Our friendship will always be.
He will always be in my heart;
we will never grow apart.
Whenever I feel sad and I need somebody to talk to,
I can go to him and I won't feel blue.
I am very lucky to have him as my brother.
We can always trust one another.
I pray for him every day;
that he will never walk away.
I love him so much
and I am proud to be his sister.

"The Guitar"

Strumming strings,
Creating songs.
I play my guitar
All day long.

I play with my dad;
I play with my friend.
I wish that the music
Would never end.

I play acoustic;
I play electric.
Which ever I play
I make good music.

"Spring"

When spring arrives,
I feel brand new.
The winter was so long.

Instead of ice,
There's morning dew;
And the robin sings her song.

Butterflies dance.
And bees, they buzz.
The flowers are in bloom.

The dawn of beauty,
All about.
In nature's living room.
